Best breakfast in St Petersburg
#Saint-Petersburg

Breakfasts in St. Petersburg - it is a whole philosophy. It is very different from Moscow, where you are always forced to eat on the go and everything is so fast paced. I personally much prefer this relaxed kind of morning, so when I come to the city on the Neva River, I try to eat my eggs in the most meditative of states, and slowly savour my morning cup of Puer. We’ve decided to tell you about our favourite places in the city where we love to start our mornings.

Biblioteka

Nevsky ave., 20

The first "Sapsan" leaves from Moscow to St. Petersburg so early, that we arrive just in time for breakfast. And more often than not we go to the Biblioteka. Firstly, the restaurant is right on the Nevsky; secondly, the service is very quick, which, for us with our crazy schedules is a big advantage. In fact, it is not just a cafe but a multifunctional space that includes a coworking area, a children's club, and even a flower shop. But we usually just come for the morning meal and rush forward.

Breakfast: 08:00 to 12:00

Kokoko

Voznesensky Pr., 6

One of our favourite places for breakfast in St. Petersburg is located at the Hotel W. The whole experience is very stylish: the interior, the menu, the manner of serving dishes... All with a slight air of Soviet aesthetics; they serve everything from crepes with caviar, and chicken broth known as the ”Hangover soup", to scrambled eggs with kolbasa and peas. They also have the freshest pastries and brewed teas in dozens of different varieties.

Breakfast: 07:00 to 11:00

Society of clean plates

Gorokhovaya Str., 13

The most fashionable and popular gastro-pub in the city; you need to know someone on the inside just to book a table here! The breakfasts are actually the only thing you can enjoy freely. However, the choice of food in the morning is quite plain and basic: eggs Benedict and homemade granola with fresh fruit and pancakes. They even serve champagne - the whole thing is very aristocratic.

Breakfast: on weekdays from 11:00 to 12:00 / weekends - from 11:00 to 15:00

Mechtately

Nab. River Fontanka 11

This place is a real paradise for coffee lovers. They are very serious when it comes to making the drink. Each month the owners bring grain from different roasters from all kinds of countries and experiment with the methods of brewing. However, Natasha and I do not drink coffee that often, but we still came here a couple of times for the excellent morning porridge (rich with butter just like in the old days) and the sweet, sweet pancakes with condensed milk.

Breakfast: on weekdays from 8.00 am to 12.00 / weekends - from 8.00 to 14.00

Belka

Fishing Str., 2

This is part of the Moscow Ginza Project network. The restaurant has a bright interior design, where they have complex exotic fruit smoothies and often arrange oyster weeks. The most luxurious breakfast is decorated in a purely Russian tradition - eggs Benedict with black caviar and crab meat. This is definitely my kind of morning.

Breakfast: 08:00 to 12:00

Du Nord-1834

Ligovsky pr., D. 41/83

In my opinion, this cozy and old-fashioned bakery perfectly captures the morning spirit of the not yet awakened St. Petersburg. Nothing is rushed here; even your americano will take about 15 minutes. But the breakfasts themselves are very diverse, they are named after European capitals, "Stockholm", "Vienna", "Paris" ... A total of 6 different options to choose from. My favourite is "London" - with scrambled eggs, fried bacon and beans.

Breakfast: 5:00 to 13:00
